All the things you wanted to know.

What do I get for my money? In other words, what are The Comedy Lab’s deliverables?

“Can you guarantee me a staff writing job on SNL?” To which I might respond—are you out of your mind? Let’s be very clear… The goal of The Comedy Lab, the way the curriculum is structured, is simply to provide the student with instruction in the creation of the various elements that lit agents prefer to read with regard to choosing future clients.

All four of the classes that constitute The Comedy Lab are held online, once a week for eight weeks of 3-hours per session.

Each week students in the core writing classes are emailed a class handout packed with commentary, analysis, interviews, script samples as well as YouTube links that help to further illustrate the full nature of a given assignment.

The class’s time-tested curriculum supports the establishment of a writing routine by breaking it all down into a series of weekly assignments that are achievable through daily focus.

Understanding that all writing is rewriting, the first half of each class is devoted to the presentation of new material, in a nurturing environment that champions improvement with helpful suggestions.

The class doesn’t shy away from breaking down the commerce side of things into doable, bite-sized pieces—most notably, helping students to prioritize their career goals and create a relationship with a literary agent.

Celebrities and industry professionals occasionally pop in to provide additional guidance to Comedy Lab students. Enrolled students will have access to these fun and valuable events free of charge.

Private instruction/consultations available, contact instructor for information and rates.
